California Medicine Scholars Program - Transfer Scholars Application 2023

To apply for the Transfer Scholars cohort, please carefully review the following eligibility requirements:

1. You intend to transfer to CSU Fresno (Fresno State) for the Fall 2024 semester from one of the following participating community college districts: 

  • College of the Sequioas Community College District (Hanford, Tulare, Visalia)
  • Merced Community College District
  • State Center Community College District (Fresno, Clovis, Madera/Oakhurst, Reedley)
  • West Hills Community College District (Coalinga, Firebaugh, Lemoore)
  • Yosemite Community College District (Columbia College, Modesto Junior College). 

2. Cumulative Transfer Grade point average minimum: 3.30 

3. Completion of at least 22 units from the following lower division transferrable coursework. See chart below for exact courses at each participating community college.

4. Collect the following required documentation so that you can upload to the application portal:
     a.) Unofficial Transcripts and
     b.) one (1) professional letter of recommendation (examples: college professor, supervisor, etc.). Letters may not be older than 2021. 

5. Prepare your typed responses in 250 words or less (for each question), to the following personal statement questions:
    a.) What experiences have led you to pursue becoming a physician? 
    b.) What do you hope to pursue once you have completed medical school?
    c.) What characteristics/skills do you possess that you feel would make you a good candidate for this program?

Once you have the above documentation ready, you will be prepared to submit your application. 

Application portal will go live in August 2023
