In addition to UCSF Fresno faculty, we welcome all clinicians, trainees, and health professionals across disciplines and faculty affiliation to speak with students through the UCSF Fresno Office of Health Career Pathways (OHCP). Your story and skills make a real difference.

What We Provide

You focus on content; we handle the rest.
  • Audience Matching: Staff work closely with you to identify the right class, program, or event.
  • Coordination: We schedule to fit your calendar and the school’s bell schedule. You’ll receive parking, check-in info, room location, AV details, and timing.
  • On-site Support: A staff member will greet you, escort you to the room, and assist during the presentation (slides, demos, Q&A).
  • Logistics & Materials: We can set up equipment, print handouts, and arrange interactive tools as needed.

Ways to Engage

Guest Talk (30–45 min)

Enter conteShare your journey, role, and practical advice; include Q&A.nt.

Hands-On Micro-Workshop

Lead a short skill demo (vital signs, ultrasound basics, suturing practice, PPE). Equipment can be provided. 

Topical Mini-Lecture

Present on a health topic tied to our curriculum or your expertise; include a brief case or scenario

Panel or Fireside Chat

 Join multi-speaker sessions (path to medical/health careers, residency life, specialty spotlights).

Conference Session (HEaL or ROAD)

Deliver a 45 to 90 minute breakout with interactive elements for a larger student or parent audience. 

Virtual Visit

Zoom format available; in-person encouraged when possible for maximum engagement.

Format

In-person preferred for Middle School and High School, but Zoom or Teams available; Zoom available for College. 

Schedule

Academic year and select program dates; times vary by site. 

Session Timing with Example

30–60 minutes (panels 45 minutes). 

Sample Session (30-45 min)

  1. Brief intro & student warm-up (2–3 min) 
  2. Your path & role (8–10 min) 
  3. Topic mini-lesson or demo (12–20 min) 
  4. Q&A or small-group prompt (5–10 min) 
  5. Closing takeaway & next steps (2 min) 
Audience Size

~25–40 students per class (larger at conferences).

Our coordinator will match your topic & availability to the best site. You will be contacted to confirm and OHCP staff will support you day-of.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring a colleague or trainee? 

Yes! Co-presenters, assistants and panels are welcome.

What if I only have 30 minutes? 

That’s fine. We’ll schedule the format to fit your time window. 

Are virtual talks okay? 

Yes.In-person is ideal for hands-on activities, but Zoom sessions work well too

Can you provide supplies? 
Where do sessions happen? 

At our middle school and high school partner sites in Fresno County and potentially college opportunities in the Central Valley. 

Caruthers High & Elementary; Kings Canyon, Sequoia, Terronez Middle; Sunnyside High; plus other district partners.

What are additional speaking opportunities?

In‑Class Presentations – Visit other middle school and high school in Fresno County apart of our collaborative efforts to share your expertise. 

Career Fairs – Participate in career fairs to promote health professions. 

Simulations – Providing simulation experiences with students visit campus (generally summer) 

Annual Saturday HEaL Conference – Deliver breakout sessions or participate in panels for an audience of hundreds of students and families. 

ROAD Conference – Present at the Reach Out and Discover (ROAD) Conference, focused on broadening awareness of health careers. 

Mini Med School – Engage students in hands‑on, multi‑session programs simulating medical school experiences.
